Etiquette & Muhammad:-

As Muhammad became more powerful and was asserting himself both as a secular as well as a religious leader, the 'head of a state', he started demanding much more respect from his followers.

There followed verses which comprised actually rules of proper behaviour (etiquette) while in the presence of Muhammad.

As usual, the necessary MADE to ORDER 'divine verses' were 'revealed' to justify and or explain them. Also as usual, Allah, was at the beck and call of Muhammad, allegedly sending him the relevant divine sanctions that his slave needed.

49: 1        O ye who believe! put not yourselves forward before Allah and His Apostle: But fear Allah: for Allah is He who hears and knows all things.

2 ye who believe! raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet nor speak aloud to him in talk as ye may speak aloud to one another lest your deeds become vain and ye perceive not.

3 Those that lower their voice in the presence of Allah's Apostle their hearts has Allah tested for piety: for them is Forgiveness and a great Reward.

4 those who shout out to thee from without the Inner Apartments most of them lack understanding.

5        If only they had patience until thou couldst come out to them it would be best for them: but Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.

33: 32 O Consorts of the Prophet! ye are not like any of the (other) women: if ye do fear (Allah) be not too complaisant of speech lest one in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire: but speak ye a speech (that is) just.

53: 53 O ye who Believe! enter not the Prophet's houses until leave is given you for a meal (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation: but when ye are invited enter; and when ye have taken your meal disperse without seeking familiar talk.  Such (behavior) annoys the Prophet: He is ashamed to dismiss you but Allah is not ashamed (to tell you) the truth.  And when ye ask (his ladies) for anything ye want ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs.  Nor is it right for you that ye should annoy Allah's Apostle or that ye should marry his widows after him at any time.  Truly such a thing is in Allah's sight an enormity.

*** While Muhammad was too shy to instruct his followers with good manners, Allah - the alleged creator of the universe - was UNABASHED and came to help Muhammad out with the necessary  and very convenient DIVINE REVELATIONS ***

58: 12 O ye who believe! When ye consult the Apostle in private spend something in charity before your private consultation.  That will be best for you and most conducive to purity (of conduct).  But if ye find not (the wherewithal) Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.
